Rusty has been crushing it on our new Doosan GT3100M. A lot of my contacts arent in machining, so I would like to provide perspective. He is holding a total tolerance range of 0.0005” on the outside diameter of this approximately six inch part. Human hair varies, but on average its 0.0027” thick.
Rusty has to hold the outside diameter to a consistent range about 1/5th the width of a human hair, or its scrap!
The technology on these machines is wonderful, but hitting these tolerances requires an awesome machinist like Rusty.
