We recently had the privilege of honoring one of our company’s founders, Thomas Gathings. We dedicated our quality room at GMW in his honor.
He started our GMW division (General Machine & Welding) back in 1971, with a dream and some prayers.
Thomas built a successful high volume machine shop, and was an early adopter of automation. He invented and patented a bar retainer system which he also marketed and sold to customers. He retired in 2008 when Reynolda acquired GMW, although his legacy continues through his daughter Melina Rouse (pictured). We are blessed to have Thomas around the shop from time to time. It is always a pleasure to see him and learn from his experience.
